Ah, a brief whisper of Spring. It's a bit warmer than what it has been, and I hope it stays that way.
I would like to greet you all, on this, my blog. I want to tell you all that yes, I have chosen to blog here as well as Catster, I wish to reach more of you out there-cats and their people. Why? Because there are many of you who simply do not have the ability to speak with those of us who are Elderwise Kit-tahs.
My story can be read on Catster.com. It's a simple one. A lonely and somewhat sad little orange kitty who was way over the age most people want to adopt kit-tahs. Our vet estimated I might be about 11 or 12. However, she's now re-evaluating that, because I am looking so good these days. This, yes, even as I undergoe chemotherapy for a lump found and removed from my mammary area. I was spayed at the rescue-no one else had done it before. And by then, I had already developed a mammary tumor.
These days, I feel remarkably well. Mommy will post new pics of me, so you can see how well I am doing! I feel well, strong and happy. I rest when I want, eat often, and am catered to because I'm loved.
Such was not always the case. I came to my people via chance: they found me at a small local rescue. I was in a bottom cage, my head hanging, dejected. I didn't like other cats much, but didn't even care that there were kittens in the next cage, joyfully batting at my ears and back. My daddy said afterwards he wasn't walking out of there without knowing we would be a family.
My pawrents did adopt me, and I came to them in November. A few months later a 'bump' on my belly was bought to the attention of my vet, and she suggested surgery. I had surgery and my biopsy came back posiitive for breast cancer. So 4 weeks after my surgery site had healed, I started my chemo.
I would like other kitties and their parents to know that chemo is not terrible. I am doing well, I eat and play and use the box without discomfort. I do sometimes have a little period of upset stomach a few days after one chemo treatment, but then I recover and after a few naps revive.
I have to encourage all pet pawrents to spay their kitties! This could have been avoided if I had been neutered at a much younger age. It's important if you want to keep your kitty healthy.
I also want to encourage all pet pawrents to take care of their kittahs. I might have been put out on the street after my person died...it was obvious that when I was medically neglected, I was very much loved, as I am very affectionate with poeple.
